Eric Sussman is a vintner of formidable talents. Whether working from Radio Coteau’s old vine dry farmed estate vineyard in Western Sonoma County, or across the breadth of Anderson Valley in Mendocino, he embraces a truly enlightened agro-ecology. Organic gardens, a mindful use of water, night harvesting - these are all things he feels are not incidental to the making of great wine. His curiosity and dedication to capturing a coastal expression of soil, season and the people who farm extends to a natural, “non-interventionist” approach in the cellar as well. Native fermentation with minimal use of sulfites results in wines with vibrant balanced fruit, great drinking wines for food, as his list of notable restaurant partners attests. Barndiva has always been proud to be one of them.
Eric also has a longstanding commitment to the arts, so it’s a thrill to have him in the gallery for our last wine producer evening of the year.
